Meet Fred and Chris Thaxton
Fred and Chris Thaxton are the founders of Thaxton Family Farm (formerly Thaxton's Organic Garlic). They acknowledge the need for growing sustainably. As former science teachers, they are passionate about developing healthy soil and crops without damaging the environment, and preserving the land for future generations.

In 2000, we began growing garlic for our family and friends. We worked for years to seed save, increase and develop our organic garlic production. We became certified organic through OEFFA in 2011, and maintained our organic certification through 2024. In adapting to the changing political and environmental climates, we have decided to continue growing with the same natural methods we have used for decades, without the organic certification.
Throughout the years, we have sold directly to customers at the farm, at multiple farmers markets and The Cleveland Garlic Festival. Through the markets, we have developed lasting relationships with independent chefs, restaurants, and Outstanding In The Field.
Over the past three years, we have developed a relationship with Sarah Gretsinger, our farm manager. Sarah has diversified our crop offerings to include other vegetables and produce, brought new energy to the farm, and a new presence at the Hudson Farmers Market and Cleveland Garlic Festival.
